Democracy?

It has been a week since the 709 Bersih street demo has ended. Everyday we will read news relating to that street demo. The more i read, the clearer my mind has become. What is wrong is our country? The popular news in these few days was the shooting of tear gas canister into Tung Shin Maternal Hospital compund. I do know the truth of that incident since i was not there and i could not be there. As usual, the police denied such action was taken but at the same time there were many pictures, videos and eyewitnesses that contradict their statement. Hospital is a sacred place and there is a international law stated that hospital must not be attacked or destroyed during chaos and war time. There were many unpleasant incidents occurred during that day like cornering the protesting crowd and shot tear gas canisters, used violence to disperse the crowd and etc. What is this? They are harmless people and yet they were treated like criminals.

After that Saturday, the government told the international media that the polices are doing the right job. In my opinion, they are not. I believe everyone know what police's duty is, to serve and protect the PEOPLE like us. This is just a peaceful street demonstration and yet the govenment describe it as something oblivious that could destroy the balance of the country. Let me asked you a question: Was Hong Kong in jeopardy when its people went on to the street to protest like a few years back? Their police even helped them to clear the traffic.

Many shops were closed and almost all roads to KL were barricaded and polices were stationed to prevent people from entering KL. You called this a good job? The government announced that Bersih was illegal and people were not to be participate in this protest. University students who found participating the protest will be subjected to AUKU.

Nevertheless, in my opinion, this incident has make us to see a clearer picture of what is happening in our country and I hope that all the voters will make a right choice, a choice that will be proud of when our children asked us what we had done in the past that gave them a better future.
